  • Do you offer emergency services?

    No. We are committed to providing the best service possible, and we believe that means focusing on scheduled work only.

  • What is your hourly rate?

    Rather than bill an hourly rate, we prefer to provide estimates for the majority of our services. Send in a request for a free estimate so we can get a better idea of what you need.

  • What areas do you service?

    Island Electric Company is based in Nanaimo, BC. We service Nanaimo and the surrounding areas, including Gulf Islands, from Ladysmith to Parksville.

  • Are you licensed and bonded?

    Yes. Island Electric Company is licensed to operate as an electrical contractor in the Province of BC. We carry the Electrical Contractor Bond(s) required by our provincial safety authority, Technical Safety BC.

  • Do you offer free estimates?

  • How long has Island Electric Co. been in business?

    Shawn and Jaro co-founded Island Electric Company in 2016.

  • Can you work to meet our tight schedule?

    Yes. Island Electric Company has a crew of electricians and fleet of vehicles so we can meet the needs of both small and large scale projects.

  • Do you work on “smart homes”?

    Yes! We love working on smart home installations, and are a certified Lutron Smart Home Installer.

  • Can you upgrade my electrical services?

    Yes! Island Electric Company installs both residential and commercial service upgrades.

  • Do you work in new home construction?

    Yes! We are happy to offer electrical contracting services to new residential construction. From basic spec homes to high-end custom homes, we love working with new builds!

  • I have a small job – can you help?

    Yes. We are happy to take on electrical jobs of all sizes, small or large. Start by sending a request through our estimate form!

  • Can you help renovate the electrical in my existing home or business?

    Yes. We can provide electrical work for small renovations all the way up to complete rewiring of your existing home or commercial property.

  • Do you install electric vehicle chargers?

    Yes. Island Electric Company has lots of experience installing electric vehicle (EV) chargers at both residential and commercial locations.

  • Do you install backup power systems?

    Yes. Island Electric Company installs both manual and automatic backup power generator systems.
