Residential Heating & Cooling
When upgrading or installing new climate control systems, we’re here to make sure your home’s electrical circuits are up to the task.
Air Conditioning
An air conditioner can help you stay cool and comfortable during the summer months, but many older houses might not have the power to fulfill the demands of a powerful air cooling unit.
Island Electric Co. provides testing and inspection services to determine if your home wiring is prepared to take on an increase in power, and to ensure your unit will operate safely and efficiently.
Your home electrical circuit must be able to handle 220- or 240-volt connections to fulfill the requirements of the addition of an air conditioning unit. Most modern homes have at least 100-amp service (but older homes could be as few as 60 amps or less). If your home has anything less than 100 amps it will require an upgrade in order to support a new modern cooling system.

Electric Heating Systems
Whether you’re renovating and upgrading your electric heating system, or building a new home, you’re going to need to power your electric heating system(s). From programmable thermostats and heat pumps, baseboard heaters to furnaces, we connect it all.
Island Electric Co. will work with your HVAC contractor or home builder to ensure you have the proper connection for any electric heating system. Remember to discuss energy-efficient solutions with your HVAC contractor to save money on your heating bills!
Heat Pumps
Heat pumps are an economical means to attaining a comfortable temperature, year-round. Island Electric can help connect your heat pump by working alongside a HVAC contractor. The HVAC contractor typically supplies the unit, while we provide expert electrical connections while ensuring (and perhaps upgrading) your home’s service is up to the task.
Hot or cold, with a heat pump you can dial in your room temperature balance until it’s just right. And in most cases, heat pumps will pay for themselves in energy savings within 5-6 years!
In-Floor Heating
In-floor heating is an effective and energy-efficient way to heat your home, and can be installed in almost any kind of room. Not only that, but once you’ve installed in-floor heating, won’t have to worry about getting cold feet during a late-night bathroom or kitchen run!
Island Electric works alongside flooring specialists to install the right circuits to power your new in-floor heating system, while the flooring contractor installs the heating system itself. One word of warning though: once you’ve lived with in-floor heating, going without it may feel positively primitive.
